Once your application has been approved you will receive a letter from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
When you have received the letter of approval from DTEI (and not before) you will need to contact the Training Provider and produce a copy of your literacy test before completing the:
1. Road Law Written Assessment
2. Driving Assessment
3. Pre-course Study book
Successful completion will secure you a position on the next 20 day course.
All practical components are conducted in Manual Vehicles.

TLI41207 CERTIFICATE IV MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVING INSTRUCTION COURSE
Information sessions are held monthly at a cost of $30 (refundable from the course fee). These sessions will give you valuable information about the industry. DTEI (Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure) requirements and will help you to achieve competency in the pre-course entry requirements, which consists of your application to DTEI, a pre-course Road Law Assessment, pre-course driving assessment and a pre-course study manual.
The certificate IV Driving Instructors course is conducted over 20 days, in 4 consecutive working weeks. The pre-requisites for this course require the following steps to be undertaken.
1. Application to DTEI
2. Completing the Mr 224 Application form “Motor Driving Instructor License”
The PDTASA was formed in June 1997 by former members of the ADTA who wished to provide Driving Instructors in South Australia with an affordable alternative to what was currently on offer.
